I’ve gushed to you about Midwestern Knits. I’ve told you how exciting it was to watch it come together. Now I finally get to dive on in and make some stuff!!
Today marks the start of a 6 week Knit Along for the River Walk Mitts pattern.
Aren’t they smashing? I’ll be making both versions in this KAL, so there will be something for everyone! This KAL will run from September 14th through November 1st. If you post your FOs in the Midwestern Knits FO Forum by November 1st, you’ll win a pattern of your choice from Carina Spencer or Allyson Dykhuizen.
You’ll also be eligible for one of three Grand Prizes!
- A Midwestern Knits project bag
- A River Walk project kit (including yarn and a MWK project bag)
- A screen printed tote bag
Long story short: let’s cast on ASAP!
Yarn: I’ll be making both versions of these mitts. I’m going to start with the mitten-top version first. I’ll be using the GORGEOUS yarn featured in the sample: Nerd Girl Yarn in Met Him By The River
Gauge: I would be remiss as a KAL leader if I didn’t talk about the importance of swatching. It’s important! There, I said it. However… you have a little wiggle room on this project. Since you’re only casting on 36 stitches, if you’re more like me and like to dive right in – I say go for it. I ended up using size 6 DPNs and the fit is really spot on.
Goal: Our goal for this week is to bind off the thumb stitches of our first mitt. The cart is super clear and you’ll be surprised at how fast this pattern moves!
Be sure to share your plans and progress with us over at the forum and by using the hastags #MWKKAL and #RiverWalk on social media. Enjoy!
