Scrub A Dub

Today marks the official start date of the Holla Knits Knit Along! I wanted to find a way to keep busy this weekend so I wouldn’t be tempted to cast on early. I focused a lot on my Forest cross stitch pattern from Satsuma Street but I also decided to hop on a little practical project I’ve been putting off for a while – new dishcloths.

This Grandma’s Favorite Dishcloth pattern is not mindblowing or new to most people. Odds are, your family had a few of these in your kitchen growing up. I know I did. But they’re ubiquitous for a reason. They’re great for everything! Dishes, counter tops, dusting, these guys get results. My last round of these were knit in a looser gauge and loosened up a bit more than I care for:

womp womp
womp womp

So this time around, I stuck with the tried-and-true Lily Sugar ‘n Cream but used Size 4 needles to make a the fabric a bit tougher.

Practical projects like this remind me why I learned to knit in the first place. I love making useful, reusable, reliable things that make life easier. And now that have a blizzard-related snow day today, I can start my Knit Along projects without delay! Thank you Great Chicago Blizzard of 2015!
